Caboolture Court House
Issue
- continually leaking roof – court rooms had to be abandon whenever there was heavy rain as the downpipes servicing the roof would leak into the building
- had previous estimates to replace rainwater sumps and connecting downpipes – but was very costly and time consuming excise that would require continual work over 3 months
- work was required to be outside court time as workers could be heard on roof during court sessions
- entire roof required cleaning as there was 10 years of pigeon waste over the roof and connecting gutters
- security was also required as access to roof was only available via connecting police station
- background checks also required for any persons entering court room area or police station
- safety paramount due to height of roof.
Solution
- all work carried out over four weekends with spilt shifts used during prep period
- entire roof jet cleaned and existing sealers on gutters ground off and replaced
- 16 spot repair liners installed on downpipes connecting to sumps – sealing sump bases to downpipes
- replacement guards used over downpipe sumps to stop pigeons from nesting over downpipes
- resealing sump joints and box gutter connections.
